Betsy's Mug

4 X 4
Oil on panel
I'm having a run of frustration with my little mugs.  My last one didn't turn out as well as I hoped and will definitely be a do-over when I get a stretch of time.  I didn't post that one.
I looked forward to painting artist Betsy Stevenson and did indeed enjoy painting this one.  She is just so beautiful with wonderful color in her face, framed with her gorgeous grey and white hair.  But again, I'm afraid this just does not do her justice and I'm going to have to try it again, maybe smiling next time.  Betsy's website can be found here

  1. It looks great...you are too hard on yourself. I love the way the background mimics some of the skin tones you used...separated by the beautiful white hair. I love it!

  2. Terri, I think you need to take a few steps back, take a few deep breaths.... and look at this beautiful piece again. It is really wonderful, and I hope you'll see that yourself! The colors work perfectly, and I'm just amazed by the eyes. WOW!

I can't wait to try my luck with Betsy. I've fallen behind this week and probably next. But I'm looking forward to catching up.

  8. Terri, this is a great painting - if I do say so myself. I have just been arrested so I can't look too good! Great job - I wouldn't change a thing.
