Linda's Mug

4 X 4
oil on panel
It is cold and snowy and gray outside today but I'm loving it because it's my day off and I'm having a wonderful time painting!  For a warm up - I just finished this little portrait, the 14th in our series of mugs shot of each other from the Hilton Head Gang.  This is the charming and lovely Linda Nickles, artist and gracious hostess.  Since she is a resident of Hilton Head, she graciously opened her home for a reception of the artists attending Karin Jurick's Workshop last November, giving us an opportunity to meet Karin and each other.  Please visit her blog here.

  1. She looks wonderful. Profiles are so hard for me...I hope to get mine up on my blog tonight.

  4. Wonderful, Terri!! You did a fantastic job with Linda. Profiles are difficult (for me!) so this is going to be tough. I hope I can do as good a job as you. :-)

  5. Beautiful! You captured her classic profile perfectly!
Hmm.. somehow reminds me of Liz Taylor's Cleopatra. Apart from the coloring...
Once again (you know what I mean)!

  6. Maria, Cathy, Dana, Linda, & Regula - thank you all for your comments. Linda you would think a profile would be easier wouldn't you? You don't have the relative symmetry to deal with and getting two eyes, two nostrils, etc. But I agree, it IS tricky anyway. And Regula - yup, I can see that Cleopatra thing. When I started her, I was thinking Mucha with an art nouveau halo effect but that would be a bigger painting. Still, fun thought.

  7. Wow, Terri, I am impressed. You did a better job on my hair, than my own hairdresser! No double chin -- thank you! Cleopatra? hmmm. That is a new one! People have mentioned Barbra, but I hated that. Nice write-up also.
