Oil on Panel
15.75" X 7.5"
Taking our cat to the vet and seeing all those anxious pets with their hovering owners was the impetus for this painting. I thought it would be fun and kind of easy to paint animals but it certainly wasn't for me, easy that is. But it was indeed fun and I'm going to try it again. This was done on a scrap of panel I found in the garage, thus the weird size.
Terri, I love this piece. The size is awesome, really. I love that the crop puts the focus on the pets, but still shows how much pet owners love their babies. Wonderful composition and beautifully rendered!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry! This is a composite actually of family models. Two sets of legs are my husband's, and the middle is my sister with my nephew dog, Shadow. The cat, is our Kitty Pie who provoked this scene. You're right - they are like children. They trust and depend on you which is why I got a little choked up when I dropped her off to be spayed. Poor little hot flashing kitty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique perspective. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Becky!
ReplyDeleteThis piece has so much personality! I think you did a great job on the animals. Had to smile at the expression on that cat's face as he looks apprehensively at the big happy oblivious Golden. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Gwen! It turned out a little cartooney compared to what I had envisioned, but it's all part of the journey.
ReplyDeleteThis is great!
ReplyDeleteThank you Leslie!
