Two Tutus

8 x 10
Oil on canvas board
SOLD
A little girl about to twirl like nobody's watching, apparently inspired by Matisse's "A Ballet Dancer Seated on a Stool". This also was from a visit to the Matisse exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Art last fall.

Making Waves

5 x 7
Oil on Ampersand panel

A couple of kids splashing around in the reflecting pool of Crown Fountain in Chicago's Millennium Park.

In spite of my intentions to the contrary, I usually don't manage to paint every day, but have lately thanks to a challenge put out by artist Leslie Saeta.  The challenge was to paint and post every day in January, but I was reveling in my son's visit home for the first days of the month and so I was late to the game. And I just don't paint fast enough to manage one a day, but I have enjoyed having that little incentive to paint more. You can visit Leslie's blog and all of the challenge entries at lesliesaeta.blogspot.com.

Rosy Cheeks

4 x 4
oil on Ampersand panel
In looking through files for a subject today, I came across pictures of the lovely Miss Adora Levine whose life has been chronicled on a blog called Adorable.  She is four now, and since she was a baby, she has been the subject of over 600 artistic interpretations by artists at the invitation from her parents.  This is the second portrait I've had the pleasure to paint from a photo taken by her parents.

Precious Cargo

8 x 8
oil on Ampersand panel

I was in the park with a group of plein air painters when a woman walked by with her beautiful baby in this old classic pram.  She was kind enough to stop and let us grab sketchpads and snap pictures.  What a photo-op.

Adora

6 x 6
oil on panel

I had the absolute pleasure of painting this beautiful, sparkling little face at the invitation of her father for his blog, aptly called, Adorable.  He has brilliantly chronicled the life of his daughter Adora with paintings by artists all over the world.  I'm honored to be a part of it.
